Choir music as a bridge

This year, contacts have developed between Estonian and Israeli choirs. In March, a group of Estonian choir conductors came to Israel and worked with several Israeli choirs. As a result, several Israeli choirs got new music to their repertoire, namely songs by some outstanding Estonian composers. In November, two concerts took place in Tel Aviv and Akko, where Estonian music was performed by Israeli choirs. The Estonian Embassy is grateful to Mrs. Maya Shavit who initiated this mutually highly appreciated project, and to all the choirs and their conductors who took part in this musical exchange.

Hereby a beautiful example of what was performed: Bat Kol Girls’ choir, conducted by Anat Moragh, sings “Lauliku lapsepõli” (Childhood of a singer) by Veljo Tormis.
